A seventeen year old idea
Margareta Persson, managing director of the Swedish company Spacebabies invented Baby Bed Blocks™ seventeen years ago, when her first child was an ”ear baby” with multiple ear infections. With four children of her own, and two ”extra” on her husbands side of the family, she knows that Baby Bed Blocks™  really works.
- Our first child Rachel was ill very much, and we often had the telephone books under the head side of her bed to make it easier for her, Margareta tells. Rachels father Niklas and I were literally fighting over the telephone books at a time, I wanted them under Rachels bed, he needed them for business matters, she remembers and smiles.
- When we one day received the brand new National Encyclopaedia and I put six of them under Rachels bed, her father had had enough, she laughs, and I needed to find a better solution!

Instead of books
To raise the head side of the child’s bed with books is very common when the baby has a cold or another minor problem. Most families with sick children has tried it with success, but it is not very practical, and definitely not good for the books. One problem is also to find books of the same thickness, so the bed is raised evenly. Baby Bed Blocks™ contains of six blocks in non-toxic plastic that you can put on top of each other, to raise the bed just as much as needed depending on the child’s condition and the length of the bed.  Together they raise the bed max. 10 cm, and fit most legs with a diameter less then 7 cm.

Paediatricians recommend Baby Bed Blocks™
Swedish Paediatricians recommend Baby Bed Blocks™  instead of pillows for young children, to make the breathing easier and ease the pain. Baby Bed Blocks™ can also be used when the child is well, instead of using a pillow.

A genious invention with great support
Baby Bed Blocks™ is a genius invention that has received great support from both Stockholm City and the industrial design company Propeller. It has also received a lot of attention from the media in Sweden, and was in September chosen by Swedish television, SVT, as one of 365 best Swedish design during a period of 100 years

- It is really difficult in the beginning when you have an idea, but you don’t know how to go further, says Margareta. And you do not know if they have potential, and then you need all support you can get from professionals, and you need to know where to look for it.

- Today I try to help other inventors, since I know how difficult it is when you know absolutely nothing about production, and it is very inspiring to be a part of those inventions, she finishes.

An added value for the children
The Baby Bed Blocks™ are developed so they can be a toy for the child when they are not placed under the bed. The children can stack them on top of each other, use them for Play-dough or in the sand.

- I love problems and to fins solutions on them, Margareta says. To also be able to add some value to the products, makes the solution even better, and that the Baby bed Blocks™ can be used also on the “well” periods, she finishes with a smile.
